A 39-year-old man has died nearly two weeks after being shot early Christmas Day in the South Side Back of the Yards neighborhood.

Two men were sitting in a vehicle in the 4700 block of South Loomis about 2:10 a.m. Dec. 25 when a vehicle pulled alongside and someone shot them, according to Chicago Police.

One of the men, 39-year-old Franklin Carlos Aguilar, was shot in the head and was taken to Stroger Hospital, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Aguilar, of the 7200 block of South Millard, died at Stroger at 5:27 a.m. Wednesday, authorities said. An autopsy found he died of complications from a gunshot wound to the head, and his death was ruled a homicide.

The other man in the car, 20, suffered a graze wound to the back and refused medical treatment, police said.
