A northwest Indiana man has been charged with burglarizing a home Tuesday in Gary.

Police responded to a residential alarm Jan. 5 in the 3600 block of Virginia Street in Gary, according to a statement from Gary police.

When officers arrived, they saw 24-year-old Terell J. Finley exiting the home through a side window, police said. He dropped several items on the ground as he was getting out.

Finley was taken into custody, and the homeowner was able to identify her stolen property, police said. Finley, who lives in Gary, was charged with burglary.
