Man shot in Back of the Yards

A 19-year-old man was shot Wednesday evening in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the South Side.

It happened at 7:06 p.m. in the 4400 block of South Ashland, according to Chicago Police. He was driving north on Ashland when a person on foot fired shots at him, striking him in the chest and arm.

He was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, police said.

At about 7:15 p.m., a 56-year-old man was hit by inbound Metra train #666 at the Des Plaines station at 1501 Miner Street, according to Des Plaines police. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died.
