An Indiana man was arrested at Midway International Airport on Thursday after officials found a gun in his carry-on luggage.

Tony Bontrager, 53, was headed for an Atlanta-bound flight when TSA officers saw the .38-caliber revolver in his carry-on at a security checkpoint about 1:30 p.m., according to the TSA and Chicago Police.

The gun was not loaded, police said.

Bontrager, who lives in the 55100 block of County Road South in Middlebury, Indiana, was arrested and charged with a felony count of trying to board an aircraft with a weapon, police said. He was expected to appear in bond court Friday.

It was the first firearm found in carry-on luggage at Midway this year, the TSA said. Officers found 16 firearms at Midway checkpoints in 2015.
