In the 2010-11 season, the Bulls were having their best season since the last one with Michael Jordan. Derrick Rose was on his way to winning the MVP and the Bulls were the best team in the conference.

There aren’t many things on this year’s team that will remind fans of that season. However, Rose did something last week that he hasn’t done since December of 2010.

As initially pointed out by a Reddit user, Rose scored at least 20 points with eight or more assists and at least six rebounds in back-to-back games for the first time in more than five years.

According to, the last time Rose had a stretch like that was December 25 and 26, 2010.

The first game came in a win over Sacramento where Rose put up 21 poitns, with nine assists and six rebounds. The second came two days later in a loss to Denver when Rose had arguably the best game of his season scoring 30 points with eight assists and nine rebounds.

Rose just barely missed reaching that same mark in the Bulls last game on Saturday. He missed it by two points and one rebound.

Unfortunately, unlike during his MVP season, Rose’s success hasn’t done much to help the Bulls. Rose is coming off of the best month he’s had in years, but the team has struggled. Since the start of January, the Bulls are 9-11. They have fallen to the six-seed in the Eastern Conference only 2.5 games away from being out of the playoff picture entirely.
