Washington Street in west suburban West Chicago is scheduled to close Monday near the Union Pacific tracks for emergency rail repair and grade crossing.

The area will be closed from 9 a.m. Monday through March 20, according to a statement from the city of West Chicago. Traffic will be detoured from Clara Street to Church Street to Wood Street and then back to Washington Street.

The city has offered no substantial plan to either purchase the station or propose an alternate site before Greyhound’s lease ends in October, according to the report by DePaul University’s Chaddick Institute for Metropolitan Development. “There could be a real mess for our city if no action is taken.” said Joe Schwieterman, one of the authors.
