A man shot in the neck in the Austin neighborhood walked into a Near West Side hospital Tuesday night.

The 21-year-old, who was shot in the back of the neck, took himself to Rush University Medical Center about 8:45 p.m. after he was shot in the 4800 block of West Madison, police said.

The man was later transferred to Stroger Hospital, where his condition had stabilized, police said.
