Eight people were hurt, including two Chicago Police officers, when a squad vehicle slammed into a CTA bus Monday afternoon on the West Side.

About 3:40 p.m., officers in the police SUV were going south on Pulaski with their emergency lights activated while responding to a call when another vehicle crashed into them near 5th Avenue, according to police.

The collision sent the officers’ SUV into the No. 53 bus, which was stopped at the intersection, police and CTA officials said.

The two officers were taken to hospitals, along with six passengers on the bus, officials said. None of the injuries were thought to be life-threatening.

The driver of the vehicle that crashed into the police SUV received two traffic citations.
