Man shot in Austin

A man was shot Sunday in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side.

At 7 p.m., the 19-year-old man was walking in the 900 block of North Lavergne Avenue when someone wearing a gray hoodie walked up to the man, pulled out a gun and fired shots, police said.

The man suffered gunshot wounds to the left thigh, left arm, right ankle and a graze wound to the chest, and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said.

A police source said the man is a documented gang member.
