Two people in a stolen vehicle were shot Monday night on the Dan Ryan Expressway on the South Side.

A 16-year-old boy and 20-year-old man left a gas station at 75th and State and drove onto northbound I-94 when someone in a black car began firing shots at their vehicle just before midnight, according to Illinois State Police.

The victims pulled off the expressway at 59th Street, and ISP and Chicago Police responded to the shooting.

Five people, four males and one female, were inside the vehicle, which had been reported stolen, police said.

The 16-year-old boy, who was driving, was shot in the lower left leg; and the 20-year-old man in the backseat was shot in the left hip, police said. Both were taken to Stroger Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The ramp from the northbound Dan Ryan to 59th Street was temporarily closed for investigation, but was reopened to traffic by 5:05 a.m.
