A man was airlifted to a hospital after he was trapped under a truck Tuesday morning at a transmission shop in west suburban Batavia.

The man was underneath a truck when it fell off a lift and struck him at Tranz Shop in the 1700 block of East Wilson Street in Batavia, according to a statement from the city of Batavia.

The man had been removed from the under the truck by a shop employee by the time authorities arrived, according to the statement.

He was airlifted to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, but his condition was not immediately available.

Batavia police are investigating the industrial accident along with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
