The White Sox reinstated outfielder Avisail Garcia, who sprained his right knee in the on-deck circle, from the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday. Outfielder Jason Coats was optioned to AAA Charlotte to make room on the roster.

Garcia, 25, was placed on the DL August 9 (retroactive to August 7). He played in three games with Charlotte on a rehab assignment, going 5-13 with a home run. He is hitting .240 with nine home runs and 36 RBI over 86 games with the Sox this season, including 5-for-15 with three homers and six RBI in August before the injury.

Coats, 26, was hitting .189 with a homer, two doubles and three RBI over three stints with the Sox.  He’s hitting .329 with eight homers and 17 doubles at Charlotte.
