A man was shot during a robbery Tuesday evening at a store in the West Side Lawndale neighborhood.

Two people, one of them armed with a handgun, announced a robbery about 7:30 p.m. at the store in the 4100 block of West 16th Street, according to Chicago Police. A clerk was shot in the abdomen during the robbery and the suspects ran away.

The 51-year-old man was initially taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, but was later stabilized, police said.

No one was in custody Wednesday morning as Area Central detectives investigated.
