A 26-year-old man was shot Sunday afternoon in the Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side.

At 2:21 p.m., the man was shot in the chest in the 600 block of South Independence Boulevard, according to preliminary information from Chicago Police.

The man was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said. He was uncooperative with investigators.

The suspect, Xavier Tate, 22, had used the card in a store not long before Huesca was gunned down on April 21 in the 3100 block of West 56th Street, Police Supt. Larry Snelling said at a news conference as Tate made his first court appearance on murder charges.
