A man was seriously wounded early Sunday in a Near West Side neighborhood shooting.

The 38-year-old was shot in the upper body about 3:10 a.m. in the 2700 block of West Madison, according to Chicago Police. Officers responded to a call of a person shot and found him lying in a parking lot.

He was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition, police said.

The circumstances of the shooting were not immediately known.
