A man was stabbed to death early Saturday in the Park Manor neighborhood on the South Side.

About 3 a.m., officers responding to a call of shots fired in the 6900 block of South Michigan found 31-year-old Alex D. Alexander stabbed in his upper back, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Alexander, who lived in the South Side Woodlawn neighborhood, was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:13 a.m., according to the medical examiner’s office. An autopsy found he died of multiple sharp force injuries and his death was ruled a homicide.

Police originally reported the incident as a fatal shooting.
