A man was killed in a hit-and-run crash Sunday night in the Cragin neighborhood on the West Side, police said.

About 10:20 p.m., Alberto Zavala, 64, was crossing the street when he was hit by a white Ford Edge SUV that was headed east in the 5200 block of West Fullerton, according to Chicago Police.

The driver sped away east and then turned north on Laramie Avenue, police said.

An autopsy Monday found Zavala died of his injuries in the crash and his death was ruled an accident, the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office said. He lived in the block where he was struck.

The SUV lost its driver’s side mirror in the crash, and likely sustained damage to its front driver’s side.
