A man died Wednesday after he was struck multiple times during an argument the night before in the Logan Square neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

William Rosenbaum, 58, was “hit by an object multiple times” during an argument with someone about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 2500 block of North Western, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The object may have been a bat, but investigators have received conflicting accounts of what happened, a police source said.

Rosenbaum was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he died 6:20 a.m. Wednesday, authorities said. He was homeless.

An autopsy Thursday found he died of multiple blunt force injuries from the assault and his death was ruled a homicide, the medical examiner’s office said.

Area North detectives were conducting a homicide investigation.
