A man was fatally shot Tuesday morning in the Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side.

Deshawn Owens, 27, was walking at 9:34 a.m. in the 1300 block of South Millard when someone approached him from an alley and fired shots that struck him in his head and thigh, according to Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Owens was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:25 a.m., authorities said. He lived about a block from where he was killed.

Area Central detectives were investigating.
