Man dies day after double shooting on Eisenhower Expressway near East Garfield Park

The shooting happened Monday afternoon in the eastbound lanes near California Avenue, Illinois State Police said.

At least 26 people were shot in Chicago in the first night of the weekend. — One person was killed and another wounded in a shooting Aug. 23, 2021 on the Eisenhower Expressway.

A man has died a day after he was wounded in a double shooting on the Eisenhower Expressway near East Garfield Park.

The shooting happened about 2:20 p.m. Monday in the eastbound lanes near California Avenue, Illinois State Police said.

Ralph Banks, 25, of Chicago, was a passenger in the car and suffered a gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead the next day, according to state police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

A 28-year-old man driving the car suffered injuries that were not life-threatening, state police said.

Police have not yet released any additional information.
