The Washington Nationals will be sold to developer Theodore Lerner’s group, which Major League Baseball selected over seven other suitors to buy the franchise for $450 million.

Former Chicago Public Schools chief George Munoz, a Washington attorney, is part of the ownership group. Munoz is the former president and CEO of the Overseas Private Investment Corp., and the former chief financial officer of the U.S. Treasury during the Clinton administration.

Munoz told me he will be an active member of the team’s ownership and that his experience with the Chicago School Board will be useful in bringing the game to students.

”This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” he said.
