Man shot, killed in Lake View

Daniel Cox, 53, was sitting in a vehicle when someone fired shots from a white SUV, authorities said.

A teen boy was fatally shot Aug. 14, 2022, in the Golden Gate neighborhood.

A 53-year-old man was shot dead in the 3700 block of North Ashland Avenue, Oct. 17, 2019, in Lake View.

A man was killed in a shooting Thursday in Lake View on the North Side.

About 4:14 p.m., Daniel C. Cox, 53, was in a vehicle in the 3700 block of North Ashland Avenue when a white SUV approached him and someone inside opened fire, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

Cox was hit in the neck, and taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, authorities said. He lived in West Town.

No arrests have been reported. Area North detectives are conducting a homicide investigation.
