Man shot, killed in Gary

David Shelton, 30, was shot in the 3700 block of West Washington Street, authorities said.

A 30-year-old man was killed in a shooting Sunday in Gary, Indiana.

Authorities responded about 8 p.m. to the 3700 block of Washington Street and found David Shelton with a gunshot wound, according to the Lake County coroner’s office.

Shelton was pronounced dead about 9:30 p.m., the coroner’s office said. His death was ruled a homicide. He lived in Portage.

Gary police did not immediately respond to a request for details on the shooting.
