Burglar takes computer equipment from Austin, Humboldt Park warehouses: police

Several warehouses and buildings in Austin and Humboldt Park were burglarized in April and May, Chicago police said.

Once inside, the burglar went to the building offices and took computer equipment and accessories before fleeing, Chicago police said.

Police are warning Austin and Humboldt Park businesses to secure their properties following reports of computer equipment theft in April and May.

In each incident, the burglar broke in through the side window of a warehouse or building, according to a community alert from Chicago police. Once inside, the burglar went to the administrative offices and stole computer equipment and accessories before fleeing.

The thefts occurred:

  • About 5 p.m., April 14 in the 4700 block of West Le Moyne Street;
  • About 6 p.m., May 9 in the 1400 block of North Lamon Avenue; and
  • About 9:30 p.m., May 11 in the 4000 block of West Grand Avenue.

Police did not provide a description of the burglar.
