A man was shot to death Saturday in Englewood on the South Side.

The 27-year-old was found unresponsive about 6:05 a.m. at a home in the 5900 block of South Justine Street, Chicago police said. He had a gunshot wound to his abdomen and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified the man as Jamal Daveny of Bronzeville.

An autopsy conducted Sunday confirmed he died of his gunshot wounds, the medical examiner’s office said. His death was ruled a homicide.

Area One detectives are investigating the shooting.
