A man was killed and another wounded in a shooting Tuesday afternoon in Little Village on the Southwest Side, police said.

The men, 26 and 54, were on the sidewalk about 3:07 p.m. in the 4000 block of West 26th Street when someone approached them and fired shots, Chicago police said.

Wilmer Cortez, 26, of Little Village, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital and pronounced dead, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. Police said he was shot multiple times.

The 54-year-old was taken to the same hospital in fair condition with multiple gunshot wounds, police said.

No one is in custody as Area Four detectives investigate.
