The deadline for families to apply to Chicago Public Schools for next year has been extended to Dec. 13 because of the recently ended teachers strike.

The universal application, GoCPS, allows families to apply for all elementary schools, district-run high schools and charter schools in one place. The original deadline had been Dec. 6.

Various programs are available through the application, such as STEM schools, world language schools or programs that focus on the arts. Online applications are due by 11:59 p.m. Dec. 13, and paper applications are due by 6:00 p.m.

For more information and directions on filling out the application, families can visit go.cps.edu, call (773) 553-2060 or email gocps@cps.edu.
