Heading out to Chi-Town Rising for New Year’s Eve?
Here are the details about ticketing, according to today’s official statement:
Chi-Town Rising will feature entrances on both the north and south sides of the Chicago River with the “Rising Star” ascending the top of the Hyatt Regency Chicago at midnight, as well as entertainment on video screens. You must register for tickets online prior to arriving on Dec. 31.
There are three options for the free tickets, available online at chi-townrising.com:
1) NORTH VIEWING AREA, early arrival/guaranteed entry (you must arrive by 9 p.m.):
Ticketholders are guaranteed entry into Pioneer Court secure viewing area until 9 p.m.; entry will be contingent on space availability after that time. (No further ticketholders will be allowed entry once capacity is reached).
2) SOUTH VIEWING AREA, early arrival/guaranteed entry (you must arrive by 9 p.m.):
Ticketholders are guaranteed entry into Upper Wacker Drive secure viewing area until 9 p.m.; entry will be contingent on space availability after that time. (No further ticketholders will be allowed entry once capacity is reached).
3) BOTH VIEWING AREAS, after 9 p.m., space available entry – (no entry until 9 p.m.):
Ticketholders may receive space-available access to secure viewing areas; once capacity is reached, no additional ticketholders will be permitted to enter.
Concessions will be available in both viewing areas. No alcohol, weapons, or other prohibited materials will be allowed into the event areas.
Here’s the schedule of Dec. 31 Chi-Town Rising special events at a glance:
— Chi–Town Rise & Shine 5K and Fun Run, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. (Millennium Park): The city’s first 5K to start and end in Millennium Park (at Michigan and Randolph Street) followed by a fun run. Runners can register at www.chitownriseandshine.com through Nov. 28.
— Family Countdown Celebration on the Chicago Cultural Mile, 3 – 6 p.m.(Wrigley Square, Millennium Park): Families can enjoy warm refreshments, live entertainment and a special “Halfway to Midnight” countdown.
— Corona Extra Beach House, 9 p.m. – 2 a.m. (Crystal Ballroom, Hyatt Regency Chicago, 151 E. Upper Wacker): DJ/producer MATOMA headlines the festivities inside the Hyatt Regency Chicago’s Crystal Ballroom with an outdoor terrace featuring views of the fireworks. Admission (21+over) includes select complimentary beverages and midnight sparkling wine toast, beach-inspired food items. Tickets, $199-$249 are available here.
— Corona Extra Silent Disco Dance Floor, 9 p.m. – 12 a.m. (Pioneer Court): Patrons can enjoy music and dancing at the Silent Disco and Interactive Dance Floor, with DJ Rhetorik providing the music mix. Free (21+over); beverages will be available for purchase.
The evening’s festivities will be televised live 11 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. on NBC5 and Telemundo Chicago.
