A man shot to death early Saturday in the Garfield Ridge neighborhood on the Southwest Side has been identified.

Leonardo Morales, 34, was shot multiple times about 4:55 a.m. in the 5200 block of South Menard, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Morales, of the 2500 block of South Ridgeway, was dead at the scene, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Officers at the scene said he was shot several times in the head at close range.

Witnesses told investigators they heard shots, looked out the window, and saw the man lying on the ground, police said.

Area Central detectives are conducting a homicide investigation.
