1 dead in fiery crash on Stony Island feeder ramp

A vehicle crashed into a light pole on the ramp early Tuesday and caught fire, Illinois State Police said.

A man died after crashing into a light pole Tuesday on the Stony Island feeder ramp to the Bishop Ford on the South Side.

The vehicle caught fire after crashing on the southbound ramp about 3 a.m., according to Illinois State Police. A spokesperson for the state police did not have additional details.

Gregory T. Buckner suffered multiple injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead about 3:30 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. An autopsy ruled the death accidental. He lived in West Pullman.

Illinois State Police are investigating.
