State child welfare officials are investigating Saturday’s death of a 2-month-old Indiana baby in south suburban Country Club Hills.

The baby was pronounced dead at 8:47 a.m. at South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He lived in the 8500 block of U.S. 24 in Logansport, Ind.

DCFS is investigating allegations of neglect and has not had prior contact with the family, according to spokeswoman Alissandra Calderon.

Country Club Hills police said preliminary reports indicate the baby suffered a medical issue.

Autopsy results were pending further studies, according to the medical examiner’s office.
