A man was seriously injured when his car slammed into the back of a semi on the Bishop Ford Freeway Tuesday night on the Far South Side.

About 9:30 p.m., he was driving northbound on I-94 when he drove into the back of the truck near 115th Street, according to Illinois State Police.

The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in serious condition, state police said. His age was unknown.

Two lanes of traffic were blocked for about an hour as crews cleared the scene.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
