A Bob Uecker story for his birthday

Former player and longtime Milwaukee Brewers broadcaster Bob Uecker turned 82 today. The Hall of Fame announcer is entering his 60th year in baseball.

Uecker was never much of a player, but the witty storyteller regularly knocked it out of the park during his more than 100 appearances on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. Carson played the perfect straight man to Mr. Baseball’s deadpan humor.

One night, Carson asked the lifetime .200 hitter about his biggest baseball thrill. Without hesitation, a straight-faced Uecker replied: “Watching a fan fall out of the upper deck in Philly.”
