Former Cubs manager Lou Piniella is taking on a new role with one of his former clubs – the Cincinnati Reds.
According to MLB.com’s Mark Sheldon, the Reds have hired Piniella as a senior advisor to baseball operations. The team later confirmed the report.

Piniella, who managed the Reds during their wire-to-wire championship season in 1990, spent four seasons as Cubs manager from 2007-2010, compiling a 316-293 record and guiding Chicago to three consecutive winning seasons.
Piniella managed #reds from 1990-92, including World Series win in '90. Has long relationship with Price, who was his pitching coach in SEA.
