The eastbound lanes of the Eisenhower Expressway were closed after a shooting that injured two women Saturday in Austin on the West Side.

They were shot at 4:13 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-290 near Laramie, according to Illinois State Police.

A 25-year-old woman was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, Chicago Fire Department officials said. A second woman, 21, was taken to the same hospital in fair-to-serious condition.

All eastbound lanes were closed between Austin and Central avenues shortly before 5:30 a.m. and reopened about 8:30 a.m., state police said. The shooting remains under investigation.
