A man was shot in his leg Friday evening in the West Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.

The 19-year-old was standing on the sidewalk at 5:14 p.m. in the 4000 block of West Madison when he heard gunshots and felt pain, Chicago Police said.

He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said.
