When a team has been around as long as the Blackhawks have with as many legendary players, it’s difficult to even come close to any records. Patrick Kane, however, is closing in on history.

With another goal and an assist Sunday night, Kane improves to 29 goals and 40 assists on the year, 69 points overall. That total is already blowing away last year’s team high.

Kane’s season, which has already reached historic heights after his record breaking point streak, could rank as one of the best in franchise history. At this pace, Kane would finish in Blackhawks top 10 for goals scored, and top five for both assists and total points.

Kane’s projected totals: 118 points, 68 assists, 49 goals

While Kane is still well off the pace for the record holding season that set the assists and points record by Denis Savard and Bobby Hull’s goal record, this season would be only the second season in team history that ranks among the top 10 in all three categories.

The only other player to achieve that feat was Savard in the 1985-86 season.

The All-Star captain is already nearing his individual season record highs. If he continues at this pace, without injury, Kane will blow by any previous season total.
