The games apparently will go on, even if classes don’t at Lake Forest, as the deadline for the start of a teachers strike looms at 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday.
The Lake Forest High School Board of Education recently released a plan that will go into affect should a strike occur, and the result is athletics — games and practices — will go on pretty much as scheduled for the various Scouts teams.
That will include the playing of Friday’s key North Suburban Lake football game against Lake Zurich.
Here are the key elements of the school district’s plan, if a strike should be called:
On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, school buses will not run, nor will students be required to attend. School doors will remain open, however, from 7:50 a.m. until 3:10 p.m., and lunch will be available. Resource facilities in the school also will be open and available for students.
Next Monday, all students are expected to be in school.
According to the school district, most athletic participation (practices and games) and extracurricular activities will continue.
The board also said that the school calendar for the 2012-13 academic year will be reconfigured to reduce the total number of teacher work days without losing student instruction days.
The next school board meeting will be held on Tuesday evening. That meeting was on the docket long before the strike situation occurred.
