WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama delivers an address to the United Nations General Assembly on Wednesday morning where the U.S.-led fight against the Islamic State militants is expected to be a focus. After that, Obama holds a series of meetings with other leaders before chairing a United Nations Security Council summit on foreign terrorist fighters. An issue are ISIL fighters with Western passports, including the U.S.

DAILY GUIDANCE AND PRESS SCHEDULE FOR

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, 2014

In the morning, the President will address the United Nations General Assembly. The First Lady will also attend. This event is open to pre-credentialed media.

Afterward, the President will hold a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi of the Republic of Iraq. There will be a travel pool spray at the bottom of this meeting.

In the afternoon, the President will meet with Sam Kutesa, President of the United Nations General Assembly. Afterward, the President will meet with United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. These meetings are closed press.

Afterward, the President will attend a luncheon hosted by United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. There will be a travel pool spray at the top of the luncheon.

Later in the afternoon, the President will chair a United Nations Security Council summit on foreign terrorist fighters. There will be travel pool coverage of meeting.

Afterward, the President will attend a meeting of the Open Government Partnership. There will be travel pool coverage of meeting.

The President and First Lady will remain overnight in New York City.
