A man was who was shot to death late Tuesday in the Burnside neighborhood on the South Side has been identified.
Xavier Thornton, 23, was exiting a vehicle in the 9000 block of South Greenwood at 9:03 p.m. when the driver fired shots at him before driving away, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Thornton, who lived on the same block as the shooting, was shot in the chest and head, and was taken to Advocate Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn, where he died at 10:23 p.m., authorities said. His death was ruled a homicide.
