A 25-year-old man has died more than two weeks after he was injured in a crash in north suburban Skokie.
An SUV and a semi tractor-trailer crashed at 3:51 a.m. Nov. 17 in the 4200 block of Golf Road, according to Skokie police. The semi turned over.
Sargon Mirza, 25, who was a passenger in the SUV, died at Evanston Hospital at 5:37 a.m. Monday, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He lived in the 9600 block of Kedvale Avenue in Skokie.
An autopsy Tuesday did not rule on Mirza’s cause and manner of death pending further investigation, according to the medical examiner’s office.
The driver of the SUV, 29-year-old Stuart S. Ishay, was charged with two counts of misdemeanor DUI on Nov. 17, police said. He also suffered a minor injury in the crash.
Ishay, of Skokie, was also cited for disobeying a stop sign, no valid driver’s license and failure to wear a safety belt, police said. He is scheduled to appear in court Thursday.
