A delivery driver was robbed at gunpoint Thursday morning in the South Side Chatham neighborhood.

The 32-year-old man was delivering packages in the 700 block of East 80th Street at 11:52 a.m. when an armed suspect approached his truck, according to Chicago Police. The suspect ran away with the victim’s personal items.

The delivery driver ran from the scene and called police. It wasn’t immediately known if any packages were stolen. No injuries were reported, police said.

Last week, a UPS delivery driver was robbed of his packages in the same South Side neighborhood.

At 8:56 p.m. Nov. 30, the driver was in the 8500 block of South Prairie when he was approached by two men, police said. They showed a gun and took multiple packages, personal items and money from the driver. They also removed several undelivered packages from the truck before running away.

Area South detectives are investigating the robberies.

Community activist Andrew Holmes was planning to discuss the recent robberies at a press conference at 4:30 p.m. Thursday in the 8000 block of South Langley.
