Bears TE Zach Miller home from Chicago-area hospital

Twenty-two days after dislocating his left knee on a grisly touchdown catch that was later overturned, Bears tight end Zach Miller Tweeted on Monday that he was finally home from the hospital.

“Freedom!!!” Miller wrote. Guess who’s home!?!?”

Miller was rushed from the Mercedes-Benz Superdome to University Medical Center on Oct. 29, where he underwent emergency surgery to repair the artery that runs behind his knee and is the source of blood to his lower leg. It saved his leg from potential amputation.

Eight days later, he was transferred to a Chicago-area hospital, where underwent procedures to stabilize his knee and remained for two weeks.

The Bears paid tribute to Miller by wearing his jersey in practice and having fans salute him during a timeout against the Packers. He is on injured reserve; his injury, which includes the tearing of all four knee ligaments, is career-threatening.
