A Warrenville man died Thursday morning after jumping from the Mile Long Bridge on Interstate 355 near southwest suburban Lemont, according to Illinois State Police.

At 8:23 a.m., Daniel A. Shaffer, 33, was seen jumping off the bridge from southbound I-355 near milepost 10.0, according to state police and the Will County coroner’s office.

He landed on the pavement below and was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. A final ruling on the cause and manner of his death was pending police and toxicology report
