A man was fatally struck by a Union Pacific North line train Tuesday night in North Chicago.

Train 341 struck the man about 6 p.m. as he was using a pedestrian crossing at the North Chicago station, according to the North Chicago Fire Department and Metra. The train was not scheduled to stop at North Chicago at the time of the crash.

The man, identified as 29-year-old Tracie Currie, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the fire department and the Lake County Coroner’s Office.

Lake County Coroner Dr. Howard Cooper said Currie, who lived in North Chicago, died of injuries from the crash, but that toxicology reports were pending and the investigation into his death was ongoing Thursday afternoon.
