Bond was set at $375,000 Wednesday for the second man charged with robbing a Sprint store in west suburban Wheaton.
Stephon Little, 27, was charged with one count of armed robbery and three counts of aggravated unlawful restraint, the Du Page County state’s attorney’s office said.
His co-defendant, 20-year-old Denzel Furance, was ordered to be held without bond Nov. 12., the state’s attorney’s office said.
Wheaton police responded to calls of an armed robbery about 8:08 p.m. Nov. 8 at a Sprint store located at 212 Danada Square West, the state’s attorney’s office said. There, they learned Furance allegedly went into the store masked and armed with a semi-automatic gun. Little, of Schaumburg, allegedly gave him the weapon.
Furance ordered two employees to a back storage room where a third employee was along with the store safe, the state’s attorney’s office said. He ordered one employee to bind the wrists and ankles of the other two with duct tape at gunpoint and then bound the third employee himself.
Furance took about 58 items from the safe worth about $40,000 total, the state’s attorney’s office said. He allegedly covered the mouth and eyes of the employees and fled in a vehicle driven by Little.
“It is alleged that Mr. Little and his accomplice traveled to DuPage County to commit this crime,” Du Page County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin said. “With the holiday shopping season upon us, I want to assure shoppers, employees and store owners that my office, along with our local police departments, will be working around the clock to ensure the safety of all DuPage County establishments and anyone suspected of this type of violent behavior will be arrested, charged and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
Little is due in court Dec. 16, the state’s attorney’s office said. Furance is scheduled to appear in court Dec. 5.
