A 25-year-old man was fatally shot in his chest Sunday in the South Chicago neighborhood.
Officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert about 11:23 p.m. in the 7900 block of South Luella Avenue and found him in the drivers seat of an upside down vehicle, Chicago police said. He seemed to have crashed into some parked cars.
Jeremiah D. Williams, 25, was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. An autopsy ruled his death a homicide.
Officials don’t have any witnesses, and the circumstances of the shooting are unknown, police said.
Area South detectives are investigating.
