A bicyclist was struck and killed by a vehicle Friday in Archer Heights on the Southwest Side.

The man was riding about 6 p.m. in the 5100 block of South Archer Avenue when he was struck by a Ford, Chicago police said. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified him as 83-year-old Jan Kopec, of Archer Heights. Autopsy results Saturday found he died from his injuries and ruled his death an accident.

Charges are pending against the 56-year-old driver, police said.

The Major Accidents unit is investigating.
