El condenado cantante de R&B R. Kelly ha contraído COVID-19, según su abogada.

Jennifer Bonjean, que ha asumido el papel de abogada defensora de Kelly desde su condena por crimen federal en Nueva York, hizo el comentario en una carta dirigida al juez que preside el caso de Kelly en esa ciudad. También dijo que la condición de COVID-19 de Kelly “ya ha sido revelada públicamente”.

Bonjean dijo el martes al Chicago Sun-Times que Kelly “lo ha revelado públicamente a terceros”.

En su carta al juez, Bonjean dijo que el virus es uno de los factores que han retrasado su capacidad para presentar mociones posteriores al juicio en el caso de Kelly. Kelly está recluido en un centro de detención de Brooklyn, donde, según ella, se han suspendido indefinidamente las visitas.

Kelly fue condenado por un jurado federal de Nueva York tras un juicio de cinco semanas en el que intervinieron 45 testigos del gobierno. Su sentencia está prevista para el 4 de mayo. Todavía tiene cargos penales en el tribunal federal de Chicago.
