And now for something completely different… and marvelously loud and oh so full of holiday cheer!

Check out the 25th annual “TubaChristmas” spectacular at the Palmer House Hilton, 17 E. Monroe, on Dec. 21, to hear 400 tuba players of all ages and all skill levels perform holiday carols and festive Christmas tunes in one of the most unique and beautifully melodic concert experiences of the season.

The fun begins at 1 p.m. in the winter wonderland-transformed Grand and State ballroom, and it’s free, though guests are encouraged to bring one non-perishable food item to benefit the Greater Chicago Food Depository. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

The event is held in honor of the late music professor (and the event’s creator) Harvey Phillips, a Distinguished Professor of the Jacobs School of Music, Indiana University, Bloomington.
